Pantone sheetfed offset inks

Select Pantone® inks for sheetfed printing: Easy Mix BIO, metallic inks or a custom-mixed colour. Check substrate, fastness and finishing.

Base ink, metallic ink or a custom-mixed colour?

Choose the way of working that suits your print shop. The color number itself does not determine the ink’s resistance or compatibility with the ink.

What do you need? Solution Differences and limitations
You mix the colors yourself Novavit Easy Mix BIO Mixable base inks. Adapt recipes from the Pantone 2023 edition to this system; select resistance separately.
You want a gold or silver effect Novaflash HIGH GLOSS Ready-made metallic ink. Low abrasion resistance requires consideration of finishing and fineness.
You need a ready-made color to order WIT ink mixing service We will prepare Pantone, HKS or color according to sample. Provide the substrate, pattern and further processing requirements.

Ready-made base series for mixing Pantone® colors

Pantone® Novavit® Easy Mix BIO inks

Choose this series when you want to mix Pantone® colors without adding a dryer. Easy Mix BIO are highly pigmented, single-pigment base inks for conventional sheetfed offset printing. The binder is based on renewable raw materials and the ink remains fresh in the ink duct.

What do you get?

  • Ready to print – use ink without the addition of a dryer or anti-dryer.
  • High intensity and shine and very fast setting.
  • Flexible mixing Pantone® PLUS colors thanks to single-pigment bases.

Important restrictions

Do not directly copy recipes from the Pantone® 2023 edition. Adapt these recipes to Easy Mix BIO inks. For greater resistance, choose BCS BIO INTENSIVE “Resistant” bases. Test the mixture on your substrate. Use Blue 072 Extra and Reflex Blue Extra for direct printing. They are unsuitable for Pantone® PLUS formulations. The series is not intended for food packaging without a functional barrier.

Application and properties

Technique Conventional sheetfed offset
Substrates Coated papers and boards: glossy and matte, as well as uncoated
Setting Penetration of ingredients into the absorbent substrate and oxidative drying; the ink stays fresh in the ink duct
Series range 17 base inks and transparent black and white; supplement: 5 BCS BIO INTENSIVE bases and 2 Extra blues
Mixing Pantone® PLUS colors and other spot colors; single-pigment base
Extras BCS Reducer BIO 19 789: 1–3% for viscosity and tack correction according to the 2018 card

Novaflash High Gloss metallic ink for sheetfed offset

Gold and silver metallic inks

Novaflash® HIGH GLOSS

Choose metallic ink when shine and a strong decorative effect are important. This is a single-component series for conventional sheetfed offset, based on gold and aluminum pigments. It gives good printability, also on fast machines.

What do you get?

  • Strong metallic effect and high gloss on a suitable substrate.
  • Ready to print without mixing the ingredients.
  • Good transferability thanks to fine pigments.

Important restrictions

Flake pigments provide low abrasion resistance. If the project requires greater durability, plan a suitable oil or water varnish and test the finish. Do not use this series for food packaging without a functional barrier.

Application and properties

Substrates Preferably glossy coated papers and cardboards; also matte substrates
Presses Multi-color sheet-fed machines, also fast
Composition One-component mineral oil based ink with flake pigment
Immunity Low abrasion resistance; it can be improved with an appropriate varnish or coating

Silver metallic effect

Novaflash® Silver 6 S 165

Choose silver ink for decorative printing in conventional sheetfed offset. The metallic effect depends on the substrate, ink layer and further finishing.

What do you get?

  • Silver effect on paper and cardboard, especially good quality coated substrates.
  • One-component ink ready for print preparation.

What should you look out for?

Before varnishing, lamination or gluing, perform an adhesion and drying test. The finish may reduce the metallic effect. Do not use for food packaging without a functional barrier.

Application and storage

Technology Conventional sheetfed offset
Substrate Best results usually on good quality coated papers and boards
Finishing Pre-production test; take into account the adhesion of the varnish and the complete drying of the ink
Storage Sealed package. Do not pour ink from the ink duct back into the can.

Color prepared for a specific order

Offset ink mixing service

Have your color prepared when you need Pantone®, HKS or your own pattern. The WIT mixing plant works with Flint Group BCS ND/NA concentrates. The selection of additives allows you to match the color to the substrate, resistance and further processing.

What can we match?

  • Pantone®, Pantone GOE, Pantone Metallic or HKS color.
  • Substrate: coated, uncoated and metalized papers and boards; in justified cases, also other substrates.
  • Properties: setting time, rub resistance, tack and duct freshness.

The selection depends on the order

Specify the substrate, machine, printing method and planned processing. Based on this, we will select a concentrate variant and prepare a sample. Additional migration and functional barrier requirements are needed for food packaging.

Scope of application

Color systems Pantone®, Pantone GOE, Pantone Metallic, Pantone Premium Metallics, HKS and own standards
Concentrates 18 standard and 5 with increased resistance
Substrates Coated, uncoated and metallized papers and boards; others after the test
Techniques Conventional sheetfed offset
