Anti-set-off powder

About this category: check before choosing

Anti-set-off powder separates sheets in the stack and helps prevent fresh ink transfer. Choose powder by substrate, particle grade and finishing. Compare KSL L3 and S5 in 2 kg packs.

First establish the paper surface and number of press passes. Then check the complete variant designation. Powder type and grade are separate criteria. Powder does not replace proper ink drying.

More about selection and application

Choose powder by substrate and finishing

KSL L3 uses a water-soluble sugar derivative. It helps limit powder build-up on blankets during repeat passes. S5 uses natural starch. Do not assume it has the solubility of L3. S5WL is a separate hydrophobic variant.

Consider substrate weight, surface, ink coverage and further coating or lamination. Match particle grade and dose to the powder sprayer. Grade numbers do not always equal exact micrometre diameters. Confirm sheet separation without excessive dust.

Questions to consider before purchasing

Does powder replace correct ink drying?

No. If set-off continues, check ink film, dampening and delivery conditions. Powder separates sheets but does not cure the ink.

Should I always apply more powder when sheets stick?

No. First determine whether the cause is ink set-off or blocking. Use the lowest dose that gives effective separation.
